• As part of marking Religious Freedom Day, the Museum of the Bible is hosting a panel discussion looking at the ways in which the Bible has influenced the philosophical, political, and cultural conversations around religious freedom.
• Freedom of religion is a cherished American liberty, firmly codified in the nation’s Bill of Rights. But what are the origins of this concept? Join us for a lively discussion on the ways the Bible and its interpretations informed the writings and philosophies of John Locke, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Martin Luther King Jr. Each of these well-known figures were influenced by the Bible and incorporated its language into their work.
• Timothy Shah, Senior Advisor and Director of the South and South East Asia Action Team, and Byron Johnson, Senior Advisor and Director of the United States Action Team, will both be speaking.
• Other Speakers include: Jacqueline Rivers (Executive Director, Seymour Institute on Black Church and Policy Studies and RFI Advisory Board Member) and Robert Louis Wilkin (William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor Emeritus of the History of Christianity at the University of Virginia.)
