Nicholas D’Andrea
Nicholas D’Andrea graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School in May of 2023. As a Sorin Fellow at the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture at Notre Dame, Nicholas joined RFI as a research assistant in 2020 and contributed research for the Medical Conscience Rights Initiative. “I think what often gets pushed to the side or ignored is the impact that state laws have on religious freedom. And that has brought a lot of perspective to my practice and understanding of religious liberty in general.”
Nicholas felt that his experience at RFI aided him with class discussions, helping him know how to assess issues regarding religious freedom and how to balance the arguments and interests of others in the conversation, both politically and individually. He was also the Editor-in-Chief of the Notre Dame Law Review, which recently hosted a symposium focused on religious liberty to which he was able to contribute.
Of his time at RFI, Nicholas says, “It’s a great group of people to work with. I felt like everybody there was very invested in ensuring that I had both the support I needed to do my work and the help I needed to learn the field of religious freedom in general and help me grow both professionally and personally.”
