May 9, 2023, Washington, D.C. – The Religious Freedom Institute (RFI) is pleased to announce Andrew Kubick as Deputy Director of its National Center for Religious Freedom Education (NCRFE).
Kubick has served as a Research Fellow for the NCRFE for the past five years, and will continue serving as Research Fellow in Bioethics and Medical Conscience in addition to his new full-time role as Deputy Director. A scholar of bioethics, Kubick also has extensive experience in education, including in the development of both bioethics and religious freedom curricula.
“Andrew Kubick has been indispensable to RFI’s National Center for Religious Freedom Education over the past few years,” said David Trimble, RFI Vice President for Public Policy and Education. “He has made tremendous contributions to our Medical Conscience Rights Initiative, as well as the development of our America’s First Freedom Curriculum. We are thrilled to have him now join the Center in a full-time capacity.”
“Andrew’s background, skill set, and disposition align perfectly with the mission of the National Center for Religious Freedom Education,” said Jim Bennett, Director of the NCRFE. “He has not only a deep passion for religious freedom, including in the realm of bioethics, but also for educating the next generation to understand its importance. I look forward to working even more closely with Andrew as we seek to expand the work of the Center.”
Kubick has worked as an educator for 17 years. Since 2014, he has taught at St. John Paul the Great High School in Potomac Shores, VA, where he served as Chair of the Bioethics Department for the past year. He has developed bioethics and religious freedom curricula for secondary-, undergraduate-, and graduate-level students, as well as for adults.
He currently serves as Personal Consultations Ethicist Fellow at the National Catholic Bioethics Center, and as Adjunct Instructor of Bioethics at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University and at the University of Mary.
Kubick has published in a variety of journals, such as The Catholic Journal on Religious Freedom and Health Care, Dignitas, Ethics & Medics, National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly, Public Discourse, and St. John Paul II Journal of Bioethics. He has also presented scholarly work at the annual conferences of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Catholic Medical Association, the Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity, and the National Catholic Education Association. His forthcoming book, Transplanting the Womb: A Catholic Bioethical Analysis, will be released by the National Catholic Bioethics Center in fall 2023.
Kubick holds a Ph.D. in Bioethics from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, and an M.A. in Theology from Holy Apostles College & Seminary.
