December 17, 2021, Washington, D.C. – The Religious Freedom Institute (RFI) applauds the Senate’s confirmation of Rashad Hussain as Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom (IRF).
The U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly yesterday in favor of Hussain’s confirmation.
“This is a critically important position in American foreign policy, and Rashad Hussain is eminently qualified to fill it,” said RFI President Tom Farr. “RFI provided policy recommendations to the Biden administration in January 2021, devoting a section to the qualifications needed for an effective IRF ambassador. Rashad Hussain admirably meets these qualifications in every respect. I commend the Biden Administration for nominating him, and the Senate for confirming him. My colleagues and I look forward to working with Ambassador Hussain as he takes on the enormous challenges now set before him. We are in the midst of a global crisis of religious freedom, and the United States must continue to be the leader in addressing it.”
