PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Statesmanship and Religious Freedom program returns to Erbil, Iraq on April 18-20, 2024. This high-impact, student focused program is a joint effort of RFI's National Center for Religious Freedom Education, RFI’s Middle East Action Team, the Centre for Peacebuilding and Dialogue at University of Kurdistan Hewler, and the Catholic University in Erbil. It includes interactive lectures with religious freedom scholars and public officials, multi-sensory and immersive learning experiences, and visits to historic sites of religious and cultural importance. Students from universities across Iraq are encouraged to apply early with priority consideration given to those that apply by February 16, 2024. Students selected to participate in the program are responsible for their transportation to Erbil, but all other expenses including meals, lodging (if traveling from outside Erbil), and program activities are provided at no cost to the student.
ESSENTIAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- I will be 18 years old by March 1, 2024
- I am enrolled in a university in Iraq
- I am currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate university student
- I agree to treat others in the program with respect and a willingness to learn
- I can self-fund my travel to and from Erbil
- I plan to attend all sessions each day of the program
